Program Description

The proposed project aims to study the genomics of brain metastases from lung and colorectal cancers from the perspective of clinical applications. Brain metastasis is one of the most severe complications and often a cause of death of cancers. Among the five types of cancers most prone to brain metastasis, lung and colorectal cancers have the highest incidences in China. In particular, the incidence of lung cancer in Hong Kong is the highest in the world. We propose to carry out a longitudinal study on non-small cell lung cancers and colorectal adenocarcinomas for brain metastasis genomics.

Program Goals and Expected Outcomes

To work out the genomic abnormalities of primary lung and colorectal cancers prone to develop brain metastasis.

What gaps in existing knowledge will be addressed by the study?

Lung cancer and colorectal cancer patients at risk of developing brain metastasis.
