Read it and the reach of the resource becomes clear. Teams in Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America are working on ICGC data right now. Universities, hospitals, research institutes and companies. Paediatric brain tumours through to pancreatic, oesophageal, prostate, liver and renal cancers and rare conditions.
Investigators are training foundation models on cancer genomes. Others are developing cell-free DNA assays, mapping the structural features that shape mutation, and building cell therapies. ICGC data was generated for discovery. It now underpins tools headed for the clinic.
Researchers apply to the ICGC Data Access Compliance Office for this access. DACO runs one compliance pathway across dozens of institutions and jurisdictions, so a team in Seoul and a team in São Paulo meet the same standard. Approvals run for two years and are assessed against the ICGC Policies and Guidelines.
We publish it so participants and the wider community can see how ICGC data is being used, and to highlight the value of this resource across broad areas of science.
